We are a not-for-profit housing association providing affordable homes and services to more than 20,000 people across Greater Manchester.
We have a strong social purpose and make it our mission to enable people to live well in their home and community.
We do this by providing safe, good quality homes and services, making a difference in the communities we serve, providing more affordable homes, and supporting colleagues to enjoy work, learn and grow. For nearly 50 years we have delivered against our purpose.
It can be difficult for people to access housing they can afford in their local area, so we offer a range of tenures to help people into a home that’s right for them including homes for affordable rent, social rent, market rent and shared ownership.
Some people need a little extra support to live well, so we provide homes with specialist support for people with dementia, mental health issues, learning and physical disabilities, and those who have been made homeless or experienced domestic violence. We also have dedicated independent living schemes for older people to support them to live independently in their community.
All our homes meet the Decent Homes Standard. Every year we invest around £9 million maintaining homes and keeping them safe, and £7 million on home improvements.
Everyone deserves a safe, secure, comfortable place to call home. We are building more affordable homes of different types and tenures to help meet the growing demand. Plus more supported housing and eco homes to reduce carbon emissions.
We have invested over £35 million building new affordable homes over the last three years and plan to invest further in delivering even more new homes over the next five years.
In Trafford we are well under way with our multi-million-pound estate regeneration programme in Sale West our multimillion-pound estate regeneration programme. We are transforming the estate by building more affordable housing, improving existing homes and enhancing the environment and public realm with new roads, parking, walkways, cycle routes and environmental enhancements.
By working with the people in the communities we serve, we can improve the lives of those who live there. From hosting outreach services at our community centre, to serving up free kid’s meals in the school holidays at our community café, we make a difference in the communities we serve.
We have an active social investment strategy which is supported by a £2million charitable investment fund, the Irwell Valley Foundation. Every year we invest around £100,000 of dividends to help people with their personal development and wellbeing, as well as projects and initiatives that benefit the wider community. See the difference it makes here.
We play to our strengths and work with partners across the public, voluntary and charitable sectors to help us achieve more. Partnerships like Athena which is helping to deliver training and employment across Greater Manchester to reduce inequality and poverty.
All our colleagues are given two days every year to support charities and organisations within the communities we serve, helping them play an active role and helping us to make a difference.
We make it our mission to enable people to live well in their homes and communities, ensuring fairness and equality of opportunity is crucial in delivering this. By recognising everyone’s differences, we can provide homes, services, and employment that help people to live well, foster an inclusive culture and promote diversity.
We know people can face challenges in relating to accessing housing, support, and employment. We are committed to changing this and have a strategy and action plan to help us promote equality in all that we do.
